Chatted briefly w/Brady

  • BoF times are all Tuesday night. Some will be more workshop oriented. We need to get some details for our BoF and fill out the online form soon.
  • Brady is potentially open to having us put together some kind of map that could publicize our software. Maybe it would be on the website, maybe something we could put in the conf. hallway on a screen, or something like that. We'd need to submit a small proposal to him so he can decide.
  • There will be an Ignite event (see igniteseattle.com) Monday night before the conf. We should participate (I will volunteer if needed).

I'm glad you reached Brady, that's great!

For the BOF, we'll take what we can get. Could be just an hour where a couple people stand up and informally introduce the OSGeo idea, and then do some open chat & networking... If we have more time, we could do more formal slides or demos. We can offer some shirts or something as give-aways also.

If you want to put together a demo website, that'd be cool. I'm afraid I can't offer much input there, although if there was any way to tie it into Raj's planned OGC interop demo that would be WAY sweet.

This is what Raj is thinking about -- are there any easy hooks here for us?

--Basic plan-- one conference call a month for planning

commit to 24-7 service provision

  • WFS: Basic and/or Simple with Atom+GeoRSS output
  • SWE: observation, alert/notification
  • WMS

commit to 24-7 search

  • use basic profile with OGC core queryables (GeoNetwork?)
  • or ebRIM
  • or ISO19115
  • nice client interfaces
  • simple service interfaces
  • catalog as many or as few service types as desired, but for that service type ingest all services from participants

--Extended plan-- include "mashed-up" or chained services

  • expose as regular WFS (with additional metadata describing

provenance)

  • define using Yahoo Pipes?

This would be great to get someone to do - unfortunately I can't volunteer any time towards it. I'll wait till Wednesday 2/28 to fill out the BoF request, assuming we'll be having our 18th VisCom meeting then, as people may have some things they want to cover that would help me spice up the entry.
