#3111 new defect

Discourse emails break formatting based on monospace fonts

Reported by: strk Owned by: sac-tickets@…

Description

People and services assume emails are read with monospace fonts. Bad assumption ? Maybe, but it's nice when you have the ability to tell your MUA to use monospace fonts (maybe on a per-mailing-list basis).

With Discourse I cannot find a way to do that, so this mail: https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/sac/2017-October/008637.html

Doesn't look as nice here: https://discourse.osgeo.org/t/sac-nominate-regina-obe-to-join-sac/2584/11?u=strk

I asked my new AI bot friend and it or he or she or we said we might be able to do it with a theme component or overriding the CSS.

I played around with overriding the css but the monospace did not make this look any better but maybe I didn't hit the right css class to override.

https://discourse.osgeo.org/admin/customize/themes/1/common/scss/edit But if we fiddle enough with this maybe we should just create our own theme.

BTW if you want to try these out remember we have https://discourse.staging.osgeo.org. I have email disabled on it so it doesn't unintentionally send emails, but you can fuss with the theming and stuff. I installed a bunch of themes and a style switcher at the bottom to see what they look like

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
