opengisch/OSGeo4A transfer to OSGeo github

Description

While building QField we created a complete set of build scripts for geo-related libs on android (similar to OSGeo4W)

https://github.com/opengisch/OSGeo4A

it is basically an SDK for any OSGeo/QGIS based android app and we'd like to transfer this under the umbrella of Osgeo.

due to its nature (It allows building GDAL, PROJ and so on), we think that it would be a much better fit there than under our company.

We would obviously still work a lot on it but it would avoid having to reinvent the wheel for other projects and it could foster synergies.

What are the requirements to put it on https://github.com/osgeo

Cheers Marco

I'm in favor of this. We have homebrew-osgeo4mac and osgeo4freebsd repositories with similar purposes under the OSGeo github account. I should have sufficient rights on OSGeo github account to do what is needed. Is there some migration functionality or should I just create a OSGeo4A repo and give you push rights on it ?

Nope, it has to start from our side. I can transfer ownership directly when I get an ok from you guys at OSGeo. Then you would have to give maintainer or admin (depends on your policies) rights to @mbernasocchi and @m-kuhn and write rights to @3nids @marioba and @signedav

Thanks a lot Even

I suck at GitHub right management. I believe that @mbernasocchi and @m-kuhn should have received an invitation with sufficient priviledges. You should be able to give additional rights to other people hopefully

Thanks, I've accepted it and definitely got enough permissions. Now the question is can you give me an official OK or do you need to discuss internally?

Merci

I've no idea if there's an official process, and who would be responsible for the decision making. In the past, we just did that rather informally. You're well-know people from the community, the stuff is open source & geo-related. Just go ahead !
