Description

Hi

We would like to gather presentations from the workshops and talks at FOSS4G2018. Could you make a FTP drop area or similar that we can send out to presenters asking them to upload their talks?

Thanks!

Regards

Tim

I'm wondering what the best approach to this is these days. FTP or even SFTP seems like a lot of work to setup, and then everyone has to have OSGeo accounts.

  • What have other recent conferences been doing?
  • Is our test Owncloud an option?
  • Would a Survey with attachment be an option, since we could send unique links to each presenter email?

Seems we should also AV scan all the files once obtained.

Looks like Boston 2017 had people drop them links to self hosted/3rd party.

Question, is the tool we used for abstract submissions & review capable of collecting the files?

I would say a very definite 'no' on this!

I dont particularly need FTP - we could use any other convenient mechanism. It would be nice to have them uploaded as the links would have more longevity.

What about webdav as another option?

Owncloud also fine. Would be nice to not require any particular sign up to upload, maybe require a login to remove files...?

Any update on this or should I look for another route to doing it? Thanks!

We have the resources, the question is the mechanism. All the safe ways I can think of doing this require people to sign up for an account somewhere. Open to suggestions. Perhaps a survey tool, since those generate unique urls based on the emails sent to speakers? Would be harder for someone to abuse to upload tons of nefarious stuff.

I was told be some speakers that the event team, specifically the AV people in the rooms were collecting copies of the presentations. Can you confirm if Studio 17? has those files?

Hi

I have written to brian@… from Studio 19 to confirm if he collected them up.
