GRASS 7 Release Planning

​Announcement (2008, GRASS 7 development started)

• Release scope: complete demolition and reconstruction (new display architecture, new raster library, new ...).
• The SVN trunk corresponds to GRASS 7 (for access, see here)

• New features in GRASS7 (already implemented)
• Display library in GRASS7 (planning & ongoing)
• Raster library in GRASS 7 (planning & ongoing)

• G3d (volume) library and modules in GRASS 7 (finished)
• Temporal extension for GRASS 7 (core functions are implemented, ongoing improvement)

  • ​Temporal Library API
  • ​Temporal GRASS GIS workshop at GEOSTAT 2012
  • Temporal GIS Algebra for Raster and Vector Data GSoC project 2013

General strategy

• GRASS 6.3.0 has been released from the releasebranch_6_3 branch
• a new develbranch_6 branch has been created (for access, see here)
• a new releasebranch_6_4 branch has been created (for access, see here)
• trunk has become GRASS 7.0.svn, it will be drastically restructured.

Now trunk is undergoing radical changes.

• wxgrass development will continue for now
