strange it looks like our make_dist.sh does have a cluase to remove the .git folder, but that evidentally is not working at least when debbie is building. Will test locally.

Revised to not check if we are in git mode as we are always in git mode now. I don't even know where this bit was being set but didn't look like debbie was set to yes for some reason.
