set startup sound to be a Kookaburra call

Description

if sticking with the Arramagong theme in future it would be nice to grab some audio of a Kookaburra call and set it as the desktop startup sound.

Download free and open software and be greeting by a bird laughing at you :-)

Not quite the impression I was looking for ... at least the wombat is cute.

Since I cannot pronounce Arramagong with a straight face I would prefer to have simple "OSGeo Live DVD" branding - or "Live Demo" to match this mailing list.

I think the whip bird has a much cooler call, but it's much less of an iconic critter.

The OSGeo Live Demo project is not limited to the Arramagong builds; there are and will be other flavours. They are two different things collaborating for this conference, as they did for the last. To be more accurate this time it's a mix of 3: OSGeo Live-demo, Arramagong, and GISVM's efforts.

As the FOSS4G conference in Australia is over, we missed our best opportunity to brand with Australian bird calls. So I'm closing out this issue as "will not fix" (so that we can clean up the issue list).

None the less, an opening sound of some sort would be nice.

Soft (song) bird calls are nice because if one accidentally goes off in a conference session or meeting it is not all that mentally distracting to most other people in the room (some sort or primal cognitive thing). also it would make anyone else in the room who recognizes what it is smile, and any ornithologists in the audience confused.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
