QGIS 1.8 (x64) missing some GDAL raster tools in the Raster menu

Reported by: saultdon Owned by: osgeo4w-dev@…
Priority: blocker Component: Package
Version: Keywords: qgis, x64
Cc: Alister

Description

QGIS 1.8 (64 bit) is missing some of the GDAL Raster tools from the Raster pulldown menu.

I don't have a 32-bit version to compare but I'll list what is in there:

ITEMS IN RASTER MENU:

Raster Calculator...

Interpolation > Interpolation

Terrain Analysis > Slope / Aspect / Hillshade / Relief / Ruggedness index

Zonal Statistics > Zonal Statistics

Projections > Warp(Reproject) / Assign Projection / Extract Projection

Conversion > Translate(Convert Format) / RGB to PCT / PCT to RGB

Extraction > Clipper

Miscellaneous > Merge / Information / Build overviews(Pyramids) / Tile index

GdalTools settings

One of them I noticed missing right away was the Build VRT tool.

Just noticed that QGIS 1.9(master) does have the complete Raster menu.

Conversion is missing Rasterize and Polygonize

Extraction is missing Contour

Analysis is missing altogether.

Miscellaneous is missing Build Virtual Raster (catalog)

Mate, based on your comment at https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/qgis this is filed in the wrong tracker. OSGeo4W is just the OSGeo packaging for Windows.

This should be filed at http://hub.qgis.org/projects/quantum-gis/issues (you still login there with your OSGeo details). But it would be worth finding out first if the same problem occurs with qgis-git, since QGIS 2.0 is about to be released.

Sorry, just to clarify: did you post it here because you did initially find this issue on Windows, and then later you found it on Arch as well?

Yes, this was just for the Windows x64 installation only. But I did find it on Arch too so I didn't see a need to file a second bug report. I only referenced this bug report there because it outlines what was missing from the raster menu.

The 32-bit OSGeo4W installer works out of the box, but the new 64-bit installer has this issue in QGIS 1.8.0 (but not master).

You or someone else can close if they don't want to patch the QGIS 1.8.0 in the new 64-bit installer and would rather wait till 2.0 comes out (whenever that is) but it would be nice to have a working raster menu in the stable version of QGIS for 64-bit Windows.

Possibly related to GDAL 1.10 shift? Similar to trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/1208

I can see it fixed in 2.0.1 (Win 8 x64 Installer)
