Description
Extremely high subversion traffic from IP "198.102.112.18" seems to be adversely affecting performance on www.osgeo.org.
Typical log entries look like:
198.102.112.18 - - [22/Mar/2007:16:11:32 -0400] "PROPFIND /mapguide/!svn/bln/1348 HTTP/1.1" 207 260 198.102.112.18 - - [22/Mar/2007:16:11:33 -0400] "PROPFIND /mapguide HTTP/1.1" 207 338 198.102.112.18 - - [22/Mar/2007:16:11:33 -0400] "PROPFIND /mapguide/!svn/vcc/default HTTP/1.1" 207 260 198.102.112.18 - - [22/Mar/2007:16:11:33 -0400] "PROPFIND /mapguide/!svn/bc/1348 HTTP/1.1" 207 347 198.102.112.18 - - [22/Mar/2007:16:11:34 -0400] "PROPFIND /mapguide HTTP/1.1" 207 338
198.102.112.18 seems to be an ADSK number, going through a sanfrancisco pipe.
We have tested banned the ip and this seemed to help load management, but it is currently unbanned.

Lots and lots of PROPFINDs over seemingly similar spots in the tree.

Apparently the heavy load was traced to some sort of indexing software gone wild all day long. With that terminated the network connection load has dropped off to normal. Still some other performance issues for SAC to review, but not an immediate crisis.
Hi Frank,
Is it just status information, or is the client pulling files from Subversion? A number of developers have been submitting and grabbing fresh sources today. And our build machine has been in constant use today as we integrate a bunch of "3rd party" library updates.
The 198.102.112.18 address is a gateway. It could be used by any number of machines. I will check with IT to see if we can narrow down the machine.
