The instructions do not ask people to join the geoserver-user group!
Please lift that rule, it was our goal to make a public forum (anyone registered can create posts). That is how I wrote the instructions here: https://geoserver.org/comm/
I only mentioned “joining the group” when setting up as an email address. Please check that page to see if the instructions are okay. I would like to use the same steps for geonetwork categories.

please lift the restriction and we can ask fsquadro to test. If it works we can update the instructions.

I've lifted the restriction that a member needs to be in geoserver-users group to post, but I have revised the group, so that those in the group start out with a higher user level.

@robe and @jive it worked, now I can create a new topic through the forum
Did you join the GeoServer users group? https://discourse.osgeo.org/g/geoserver-users
I just noticed the help somehow got unpinned. I've pinned it again so it's at the top.
Hopefully that clarifies things

Alternatively we could have anyone who is registered able to create posts.
@jive,
How do you feel about lifting this rule? The downside is it's harder to tell who your core group of people is. The upside is that it's less confusing for new users coming on board.
