Description
It has been reported, and I have verified that the compressed list archives on lists.osgeo.org are unreadable. The .gz can be uncompressed, but the contents is not plain text as you'd expect.
To reproduce the issue, visit http://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/sac/ and try to download and open any of the .gz archives.

I can confirm the same problem occurs with archives of other lists like geos-devel or ggl
Would it be possible to fix it?

Current list archives appear to be generated properly and extract using zcat to plain text as expected for at least https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/sac/2006-April.txt.gz and https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/sac/2018-February.txt.gz
Marking as resolved - if old broken archives have been stored elsewhere and need to be fixed, a new ticket should be opened for that purpose.
They seem to be doubly gzipped. Gunzip the gunzipped and you get the text at the end of a long path (/var/lib/mailman/archives/private/sac).
