#2340 new task

Is it possible to provide a windows build server

Description

GeoServer recently decommissioned the windows build server we using to create (and importantly sign) windows installers.

Being able to sign executables for windows it critical for reaching folks on this platform.

There is no need for this server to be running continually:

  1. Priority: We have a release job which runs once a month or so making windows installers
  2. Secondary: Nightly builds (to check the software even runs on windows)

We make use of various cloud Servies (Travis / Appveyor) to QA checks on incoming pull-requests.

If this is possible it would be much appreciated, our user community is sad that windows installers are not currently available (and nobody has stepped up to provide hosting).

I think we can start buy putting together some cloud hosting offerings that have windows builds and then put in budget perhaps in SAC budget for this.

I think if we can set aside say $150/$200 /mth we have enough for a 16GB windows cloud server that is always on for whatever needs.

I'd be willing to manage it since I have a lot of experience with windows.

that sounds good.

GRASS GIS project may be also interested for (daily) winGRASS builds.
