#1573 closed task (fixed)

please donate a translation for the desktop icon comment

Reported by: hamish Owned by: grass-dev@…
Priority: normal Milestone: 6.4.3
Component: Translations Version: svn-trunk
Keywords: icon Cc:
CPU: All Platform: Linux

source:grass/trunk/gui/icons/grass.desktop is the file that controls the desktop icon and menu entry on Linux systems using GNOME/KDE/

it has a line in it to define the tooltip:

Comment=Geographic Information System

it would be nice if the 2-letter country code translations could be added to that file, e.g.

Comment[de]=Geographisches Informationssystem
Comment[fr]=Système d'Information Géographique

feel free to donate them to this ticket if you can't commit directly. results will be shared with QGIS.

I'll probably need help ensuring the encoding is really UTF-8 before porting away from trunk, as I'm pretty hopeless with that stuff.

thanks, Hamish

updated DE translation applied in trunk in r56126, and all langs backported to devbr6 in r56127. before backporting to relbr64 could people check that it looks ok in their local lang? (My system does not deal with UTF very well, so I can't really tell)

The 'bluefish' editor does a nice job on the UTF, all's well & now backported to relbr64.
