Unable to specify custom default map extents in Map Viewer

A common request in local GeoNetwork deployments is to customise the mapping interface by using more local data. Along with this, these users would like to set the default map extents for the map viewer window to their area of interest. While it is relatively simple to do this for the search map by altering extents in the config-gui.xml file, these same changes do not effect the default view in the map viewer window.
