Metadata template issue

Description
I have a metadata template that's supposed to look like metadata1.png & metadata2.png. So I cancel out of that, end up back at the main screen, and then search for random metadata. I click the "+ Metadata" next to it which makes the metadata pop up. Fine. Problem is, if I now go back to the admin page "New metadata", using the exact same template I get something very different with all manner of gibberish on it. The output can be seen in brokenmeta(1-5).png. I can provide a GeoNetwork zip export of my template or even an entire Oracle database if you want (it's just dev stuff at present so quite small).
Please note - while the screenshots are from a customised GeoNetwork 2.6.0RC1 build, I tried it with a stock GeoNetwork 2.6.0RC1 and the bug still happens, so it's not my changes.

Forgot to mention - Restarting the server makes it display the template fine again until you next view metadata. There may also be other triggers but that's the first reproduceable one I found.

We don't have the view used in the screenshot but I think user just need to change from advanced to default view in order to have the same layout.
The last view used by current user is kept in the session (that's why restart make the default view used again).
The default view is used for the search results display.

I tried the process I listed above to create the bug and sure enough got the dodgy-looking metadata template. Then I click the "default view" and sure enough, it starts looking like it should. So thanks for that, a temporary fix at least.
But I still posit this is a bug. At no point during this session have I set it to non-default intentionally. My process is (from freshly restarted server): i) Click "search" (blank field) ii) Click "metadata" next to one of the results iii) Go to admin page. iv) Click "Create new metadata". v) Click "create" using the default template/group. So exactly five clicks, and from a user's perspective, none of them should change any view settings.
