Add e00 raster to GDAL

I just downloaded and installed the latest winGrass. I am trying to import some DEM files that appear to be in e00 raster format (via http://www.msdis.missouri.edu/data/dem/index.htm#). It looks like I should be able to import this via m.in.e00, but the module seems to be missing (not in the bin directory). Is this a bug issue with this module (hence left out of this build), the module is missing, or has there been a replacement for this functionality?

Howard, so far nobody ported m.in.e00/raster to GRASS 6. In general, it would be better to add such functionality to GDAL (and then use r.in.gdal). Could you post this as wish to GDAL at www.gdal.org?

There are no immediate plans to support e00 rasters. Utilization of E00 format is fading away as the years pass, so I am doubtful that it will be pursued unless someone has a pressing need and is willing to do it themselves.
I'm going to close this as "wontfix" for now though we can certainly reopen it if someone is willing to do this.
