rsync for GRASS

GRASS would need to run rsyncd for tier 1 mirrors (a handful limited by IP). However, port 873 needs to be opened in the firewall. Can someone do this?

This is needed to be done before Jan 31 since the old GRASS website (which provides rsync) goes down.

I would suggest that download.osgeo.org be used as an rsync server. I think we are hesitant to serve rsync out of osgeo1 (or perhaps even osgeo2) for security reasons.

Wolf granted sudo enabled local account on download.osgeo.org.

Clarification: grass.itc.it should not go down but I (MN) won't have any longer access. I am setting it up now to work as automated mirror and to have the master on OSGeo infrastructure.
