Mapserver breakage with C/C++ 4.3

Component: | MapServer C Library | Version: | 5.0 |

Description
Robert Walter reported a grave issue about mapserver on sid:
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-grass-general/2008-June/003111.html
that prevent mapserver working at all.
I found that turning off optimization hides the issue, but that could be an internal error in mapserver which is exploited by GCC 4.3. Optimization work until 4.2, but of course Lenny will come with 4.3 as default compiler on almost all archs. The segfault has nothing related to GDAL, it crashes within mapserver functions and Heisenbug principle applies as said :-/
