Fix the xml external editor

Description
For non-obvious reasons, notepad.exe spawns another process. This makes the "Edit in external editor" button broken.
The fix for the above should both fix the external editor problem, as well as make an option to select the favorite external editor, and perhaps decide to use that one exclusively.
