Start versioning the library

Description
Over the past few changes, there hasn't been any version number updates. It would be nice if versions were planned with certain fixes and released appropriately.
Currently, I need to use the Subversion revision number and when I version it locally, I append 0.1.0 with a -1,2,etc to make a proper version.
