The crash occurs in the MakeValid portion of the code, but makevalid on the polygon alone is not sufficient, the rest of the mvtgeom process seems to be required too.

OK, crashes on trunk, but not on 2.4. Probably something to do w/ the in-place coordinate handling which I think is the only major change in trunk?
