#3566 closed defect (fixed)

ST_Equals documentation does not describe current behavior

Reported by: dbaston Owned by: robe
Priority: medium Milestone: PostGIS 2.2.4
Component: documentation Version: 2.2.x
Keywords: Cc:

Description

The docs for ST_Equals state that:

This function will return false if either geometry is invalid even if they are binary equal.

However, this behavior was broken with #3223 (released in 2.2). Either the work done under that ticket should be reverted, or the documentation should be updated with the new behavior.

I think behavior on invalid geometries is generally undefined, so would fix the documentation accordingly. But I'll leave the final word to Regina the docs queen
