Thanks for the fix. The main issue is that uDig does not start.
Please download the latest build and test.
It looks like the uDig release archive has changed from previous releases and some file paths have been moved.

fixed udig.sh and tested locally in my fedora vm. uDig started successfully :)

looks like udig_internal doesn't have the right mode (775) due its an executable starte by udig.sh
I'm going to provide another patch ..
