The missing images should be installed via the ossim-package-support package now, see:

There is a pull request about this issue but unfortunately it did not work:

That's possibly because ossim-planet/ossimPlanet/examples/ossimplanettest/ossimplanettest.cpp requires images/textures/reference/earth.jpg which is not installed, the textures subdirectory is not included in the upstream ossim tarball at all.
