Around 19.5 GB limitation

Reported by: liam Owned by: live-demo@…
Priority: normal Milestone: OSGeoLive7.0
Component: OSGeoLive Keywords: limitation, install, vps

I tried to install osgeo on 1GB RAM 10GB HARD VPS. VPS administrator site was so kind and added osgeo iso to install alternatives list. I talk about Before this I read that one 8GB usb is enough to install it. The install application invalidate Continue button when detect only 10 GB available (lower then 19.5GB threshold)

Please at next osgeo version change minimum harddisk limitation to 7.8 GB.

mini iso

as a work-around you might check if there is a "compress filesystem" option from the advanced partition tool setup when you're installing to the VPS. the filesystem on the live dvd is compressed, as it is if you install to a USB stick, so will expand to 2x size or more once put on what it thinks is a real hard drive.

Resolution: wontfix
Status: newclosed

The REAL minimum installation size can be found by the size of OSGeoLive VM (9.7 GB vmdk file). So the installation will not fit in 7.8GB
