Canonical removed sun-java from its repositories. We have to install from Oracle now, or to find a community PPA to install from.

Hi Hamish,
I have used https://launchpad.net/~duh/+archive/sun-java6 for rc1 build. Do you have an alternate install_java.sh script to test?
Thanks Angelos

Hi,
once we knew that this was coming I stashed away a copy of the last-known-good ubuntu packages just for this occasion. It should be easy enough to download the .debs from one of our servers, 'dpkg -i' them, and put a hold on those packages so they don't get "upgraded" away.
for the live 6.0 release ubu 12.04 will use oracle/openjdk 7 natively, so not prob.

Java installed fine in RC 1. I will leave this ticket open, for future research.
