#783 closed task (fixed)
no obvious way to figure out where the data is on the DVD

Description
docs/en/overview/overview.html has a data section that links to the page of the 3 datasets, but it doesn't clearly indicate that those data are located in /home/user/data/
It could perhaps make also sense to have a shortcut in the Geospatial menu that launchs a file explorer directly on that folder ?

to make things easier to find I put symlinks to all of the geotiff and shapefile caches I could find on the disk into the ~/data/ dir. (many under vector/ or raster/)
It would be nice to revisit the idea of adding a menu item to a file browser in the next release.

Replying to rouault:
I'll put something to the welcome message. (for next time, unless Alex wants to patch by hand)
I'm not going to touch the menus any more for this release, but it is a good idea we'll get that in next time. (~/data/ needs a wee bit of cleanup too, still waiting to hear if ossim needs stuff there or if it can use the sample data sets)
