Reported by: tomkralidis Owned by: camerons
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: OSGeoLive Keywords: pycsw, 5.5
Cc: kalxas, live-demo@…

Description

Per: http://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/live-demo/2011-May/003420.html

FYI pycsw is an optional install at this point.

Angelos has committed the install script in r6133 (pycsw 0.1.0).

As discussed, I will create overview and quickstart .rst files.

pycsw added to the build, but is not listed on the Contents list as no quickstart exists for it yet.

As per my original email:

On 27/04/11 18:34, Cameron Shorter wrote:

My initial feeling is that it would be great to include pywcs in a future release of OSGeo-Live, but as pywcs is still only at a 0.1 release, without wide uptake yet, it is premature to include pywcs into the next OSGeo-Live release.

I believe that we have developed a reputation that if an application has been deployed on OSGeo-Live, then someone can expect that it has been deployed in many different locations, and tested by many different organisations. Hence, users can be confident that they will be unlikely to uncover any bugs by running standard operations.

Feel free to suggest that I have mis-read the project, or argue otherwise.

As such, I feel that pycsw should not be linked into the Overview docs for this release. I also note that the docs have not been reviewed, or presented to translators for translating, which is another reason I'm against including pycsw at this late stage of the release cycle.

pycsw is present on the Live RC5 - but the pycsw permissions are not set in /var/www/pycsw to allow web-serving

Owner: changed from tomkralidis to camerons

pycsw has moved to version 1.0, and will be going live in release osgeolive 5.5.
