freetype 2.1.10 in the osgeo4w installer is missing a symbol FT_Outline_Get_BBox found in ftbbox source file

Description
When compiling OpenSceneGraph they use the FT_Outline_Get_BBox call and when linking this symbol is not found in the supplied freetype library in the osgeo4w installation. It doesn't appear that the ftbbox.obj file was added to the library.

I am building and compiling to a newer freetype, freetype-2.3.5 but the newest stable release is 2.3.6 and all source distributions are found here: http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/freetype/. I think though the 2.1.10 would build fine if the ftbbox.obj is added to the lib.

I've just discovered we actually have a freetype-devel package produced by Assefa. Assigning this to him.

free type 2.3.7 is now available. Let me know if OpenSceneGraph builds with it.

I have established that the mapserver package included in OSGeo4W currently has freetype statically linked in (as is also the case with GD and AGG) I believe). Where did you find freetype?
Ideally we should factor freetype out of mapserver at some point.
