The geoserver-devel team got very confused with the instruction topics automatically un-pinning itself once it had been read!

1. The initial invite takes people to the instructions
2. When they click away to see the forum, the post is considered "read" and thus unpinned
3. And then the post is a couple pages back in history and not easy to find again quickly

I have found and changed the default automatically_unpin_topic setting.
