Transfer ownership to OSGeo

Reported by: camerons Owned by: warmerdam
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: Systems Admin Keywords: dns

As Mapbuilder is retiring, I'd like to move its domain name to OSGeo, so that the project's archives will remain available without me.

I'm following the process for transferring a domain here:

Domain Name: COMMUNITYMAPBUILDER.ORG Authorization Info: Ask Cameron Shorter or Frank Warmerdam.

The DNS points to:

demo nightly api

The domain expires on 23 December 2008.

The transfer has been initiated. I believe now the administrative contact for the DNS entry (presumably Cameron) will get an email requesting verification.

I've approved the transfer with my DNS provider. Apparently I have till 3 December 2009 to cancel the process, so I assume the process can be progressed after that date. Cameron Shorter.

The transfer appears to have completed. I will still need to update the DNS entries to use custom DNS at pairnic to point to the server, but that hasn't been done yet.

Does communitymapbuilder use any DNS names other than '' and ''?

comment:6 Changed 12 years ago by camerons

The only domains that we wish to keep for communitymapbuilder is '' and ''. (There used to be a but we are not maintaining it any more.)

Communitymapbuilder domain DNS has been switched to pairnic custom DNS. If you were paying the previous DNS provider, or have an account with them, you can close it at this time.

I have renewed for one year.

I have tried to reset "web forwarding" to the requested url, but I'm not sure yet if it is working. I have removed the existing A record which seems to have been pointing to

If things are broken (still?) in in a few hours please let me know and I'll see what else I can do. I may need to configure a forwarding rule on and leave things pointing there with an A record.

The forwarding works. Thanks a lot!
