Description

Now that the Quebec Local Chapter creation has been officially voted by the board [1], I'd like to request the creation of a <quebec@…> list.

Also, we would like to seed the new list with the list members and archives of the temporary list that we had created to discuss the setup of the new chapter. Please get in touch with me when you are ready and I can provide the list of members and a copy of the archives.

OOpps... I meant to include a link to the minutes of the board meeting where the creation of the quebec chapter was voted: http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Board_Meeting_2008-11-14

Daniel,

My mailing list migration guide says:

When migrating from another system to osgeo, get the .mbox files, and the whole /var/lib/mailman/lists/<listname> directory, and follow roughly the following steps as root (or sudo each step):

Let me know where I can grab these and I'll go ahead.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's a LISTSERV list, so the members list may not be in the right format, but I can handle that through mailman's web admin interface once the list is created. I'll get back to you directly as soon as I can get a copy of the membership list and .mbox file.

I have created the list and incorporated the archives apparently successfully.

I have set the default language to french for the list, but I don't know how to write an approriate French version of "Quebec Local Chapter Discussion" for the short description, so that should be updated.

I have setup Thierry as the administrator, and will email him the (usual) admin password.

Let me know if there are any other issues.
