Description
Hi
Currently lots of very large documents are being circulated on the LOC and LOC Private mailing lists. In the interests of not wasting bandwidth it would be good to have a repository for these docs and just pass links around instead.
As a second benifit, this would provide an accumulation point for documentation which may prove useful for coordinators of successive FOSS4GEO events.
It would be great to provide us with two document repostories (ftp / dav / or some open source web based document management system - I've seen a few on sf before). The first would be completely public for read and require an osgeo account for write. The second would be for private LOC useage and would require authorised users for both read and write.
Many thanks

Closing - can't remember how we handled this but obviously future needs may be similar.
Hi
I did a little research - there are a few DMS (document management systems) out there for open source folks. I have looked at KnowledgeTree in the past and today I looked at opendocman (http://www.opendocman.com). Open docman looks like exactly what we need - its simple, no frills and supports uploading / checking out / adding revisions etc. They have an online demo at the web page mentioned above. I havent tried installing it yet so I don't know how much hassle is involved in setting it up.
Regards
Tim
