Maven downloads from repo.osgeo.org blocked by "CrowdSec"

Description

Hi, a GeoServer user performing custom builds on a daily basis has reported to me that downloads time out and/or fail with responses reporting "CrowdSec Access Forbidden".

The user checked in his organization (DLR, the german aerospace center) and it does not seem like it's setup there.

Is this some new access/traffic control installed at OSGeo instead?

Not to my knowledge. Is this pulling from repo.osgeo.org or (download.osgeo.org and ftp.osuosl.org) .

We have had complaints about download.osgeo.org and ftp.osuosl.org being slow in Europe which we've passed up to OSUOSL to investigate.

Oops sorry didn't read the subject. So this is repo.osgeo.org. How long has this person had the issue? Just want to rule out it was because of last repo.osgeo.org software upgrade.

Also any easy steps to test this or you already have?

Hi @robe, thanks for following up, I did not see a notification!

It started around 3 weeks ago. Reproducing is not easy, for example I can build without issues from my own computer, which is also located in Europe. We were thinking that maybe it's due to the size of DLR, many machines going out on the internet using the same IP, so it might be seen a single large user?

Talking to the user, he can download 40-45 files (some of which large) and then it gets stuck for like an hour, and then he can resume and the cycle repeats.

Whoops sorry, never mind, wrong machine, they were reporting build.geoserver.org rather than repo.osgeo.org. My bad!!! This ticket can be closed.
