Component: | LiveDVD deprecated | Keywords: | osgeo permissions qgis |

Description
https://live.osgeo.org/en/quickstart/qgis_mapserver_quickstart.html#edit-qgis-project instructs to open QGIS-NaturalEarth-Example.qgs (from ~/qgis-examples), edit and save it.
~/qgis-examples is a symlink to /usr/local/share/qgis/ and the user has no write permissions there.

Actually, it is not even that project or the server does not pick up changes. I also found projects in /usr/local/share/gisvm/app-data/qgis/ and edited them, without any changes to the demo in http://localhost/qgis_server
edit: Sorry, that was not true. The local web demo does not pick up new layers but will render changes to the styles of the existing layers just fine without requiring a restart of the server or anything like that.
