#2188 closed enhancement (fixed)

Upcoming events not sufficiently visible on Events page

Reported by: jbryant Owned by: webcom@…
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: WebSite Keywords:

On the page, the most visible events are ones that have long since occurred, and you need to click through the pagination to see the events that are coming soonest (including FOSS4G and FOSS4G SotM Oceania).

It feels like it would be better for the user, and for promoting events, if the upcoming events were promoted to the top of the list, or if upcoming events were separated from past events.

Change History (2)

Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed

Changes done:

Events shows only the upcoming events There is history page that has the rest of the events.

Possible issues: edge cases: when the event is currently taking place, might show on the past events. Please open an issue if this happens.

Possible improvements: Have a search query by year maybe buttons to choose the years. Split the years into different pages. Make the output in form of a table with columns logo, date, name Make the line output in one line (the current css makes 3 lines automatically)

Thanks cvvergara that looks great.

As for the possible improvements, swapping away form the tiles looks odd. Perhaps consider dropping the icon so everything is just a simple list? We can also higher Get Interactive to make the visual choices so we are not stuck making them.

Small feedback on the text (try and keep it short since it takes up room).

Events are where our community gather to share updates on our work and ideas for future collaboration. Our annual FOSS4G conference brings many of us together in one place, and local FOSS4G events and meetup groups are where members can gather with those nearby.

See event history for prior events.

And (so we do not have to say past and upcoming events):

Chronological list of events
