Sunset Service Providers Directory

Description
Service provider directory responsibility should be taken by https://staging.www.osgeo.org/service-providers/
Open questions:
a) Anyone up for a bulk migration? Is that even a good idea...
b) Or build up the list again over time? Advantage is service providers need an osgeo id for that ...

Your first idea I like:
makes the volunteer to be the person from the service provider (maybe is already an OSGeo member).
with a twist:
Because the website handles roles, the person in question needs a role that allows editing (initial role is "subscriber"). So some kind of application has to be done at least to change the role.

Well incubation can handle incoming project subscriber --> editor requests.
For service providers could we ask the marketing committee to handle it?

We should add a redirect from http://www.osgeo.org/search_profile to http://osgeo.org/service-providers/

Better for the redirect request to have its own ticket, can you do that ?

I created it: #2113
Sorry but "Sunset" (in the description of this ticket) is confusing to me, does it mean "Retire" ?
I like the idea of engaging service providers with an osgeo id and their taking responsibility for their appearance on our website.
Alternative would be something similar to what GeoForAll? has requested, a form for service providers to fill in, and a volunteer responsible for review/approve submitted service providers. Without a volunteer willing to take on this responsibility I do not want to promote this approach.
