OSGeo Domain Redirects

I propose that osgeo.net, www.osgeo.net, osgeo.com and www.osgeo.com be redirected to osgeo.org.

Care should be taken to preserve test.osgeo.net pointing to the osgeo2 server.

It has been suggested that redirects rather than just direct dns pointing with virtual hosts be used to preserve the authority of the osgeo.org domain with search engines, etc.

Please, please also set up a redirect from test.osgeo.org to test.osgeo.net, or at least park test.osgeo.org so that we don't have accidental updates of the live site.

Jason, i set up a redirect from test.osgeo.org to test.osgeo.net.

As for the other, redirecting osgeo.net, www.osgeo.net, osgeo.com and www.osgeo.com to osgeo.org...i'm not sure the best way to do this. Where would we redirect from?

Maybe set up a virtual host for these, and then add a simple Apache redirect inside of that virtual host to www.osgeo.org?

Connection to osgeo.net times out, connection to osgeo.com comes up with a parking page for pair domains. If these domains are still valid, their DNS records need to be updated to point them to a live server, then a http redirect can be added if desired instead of hard-wiring them to the address for osgeo.org.

I've set forwarding of osgeo.com to osgeo.org in the domain settings.

For osgeo.net it seems like at one point this was used for testing (through test.osgeo.net), sort of like a staging server. But the records point to IP addresses of non-existent servers now.

I propose to forward osgeo.net also to osgeo.org (I will await feedback first though)

I think it makes sense for osgeo.net to forward to www.osgeo.org

I will have to delete all of the old A Record and other records, to enable that. (there is even an MX record to 140.211.15.3 for mail.osgeo.net ) I still believe none of this is used anymore.
