Overview ¶

Most major projects/products have some sort of compilmentary project for community-based extensions to the main project/product.

Some random examples:

• WPF - ​WPF Contrib
• ASP.net MVC - ​MVC Contrib
• Apache Ant - ​Ant-Contrib
• NHibernate - ​NHibernate Contrib

Currently no such thing exists and the closest thing we have at the moment is the ​Code Samples.

It would make sense for MapGuide to have a "community extensions" sub-project, where users can contribute useful scripts and tools for MapGuide with proper source control and project management.

The sub-project may also serve as a testbed for experimental ideas that may eventually make it into MapGuide mainline.
