Description
It would be useful if layer styles could be either automatically or with a button be sorted by scale range.

Yes. I think MapGuide takes the first scale range that fits the current scale, and uses that. So actually it might make sense to be able to move them.
Ea. Range 1 = <0 - 50>, Range 2 <0 - 75>, Scale = 25. I think MapGuide picks the first range found in the xml. But then again, it would not be clever to rely on such a mechanism.
I guess it makes most sense to sort by MinScale ?
