wxgui data import wizard: format choice before import really necessary ?

Description
In the wxgui data import wizards, the user can chose the file format of the file he wants to import. It is not clear for me what purpose this choice has, other than to predetermine the filter for the file picker. It does not seem to have an effect on import (i.e. I can chose GeoTiff as a format, but import a JPEG). Why do we need this format choser ? It can be quite difficult to find the format in that list and for a new user it can be quite daunting. Can't we rather create a list of possible filters in the file picker ?

Sorry, never answered on this. Yes, the solution is perfect for me. Thanks !

I removed it in r57341 (plus complete rewriting, it was not possible to maintain the code). The file picker has the formats in the filter. Is this OK?
