Map loader just shows maps of current and PERMANENT mapset
Affected GIS Manager busstons
- Add many layers (CTRL+SHIFT+L)
- add raster layer (CTRL+SHIFT+R)
- add vector
The selection buttons just allow to select the layers / maps of the current mapset and PERMANENT. Not the maps in other mapsets.

g.mapsets - Modifies the user's current mapset search path. Affects the user's access to data existing under the other mapsets in the current location.
from Layer Manager Menu Settings -> GRASS working environment -> Mapset access

Just found out this apparently applies to all layer selection dialogues (such as also the r.mapcalc one).

Not always: we have 100+ mapsets per location, several of them filled with 14,000+ maps each (think MODIS LST time series).

And what about adding a user preset for this?
Especially for users with many small projects it is always cumbersome to have many intermediate steps.
This is the user case of Single user working at on may small projects.
