Description

CMake <3 is ancient and CMake 3 features are on demand.

  • Debian (stable) offers 3.0.2.
  • Ubuntu 16.04 offers 3.5.1 (14.04 still at 2.8 from 2009 - funny to rely on 5-year old version!, but there is ppa://george-edison55-precise-backports with CMake 3)

N.B. CMake 3.8 is being released.

Related to #816 and numerous other CMake improvements to come.
