The VRT filtering code doesn't get applied when requests are made at a resolution other than 1:1 (full res).

I'm not sure. There is indeed overview support now, but that ticket is about sub-sampling and filtering

It seems to me that VRT have full overview support in current trunk + my patch from ticket #2076.
