Description (last modified by )
This is not a bug report but suggestion of improvements. There is a lot of definitions marked as deprecated in postgis.sql file
I believe it would be good to remove all deprecated functions and definitions from postgis.sql file in the next release.

Frank asked me the reasonably question 'why are you going to do that'? And my answer was at best lame. I just don't like them. But they aren't really a maintenance issue (they just sit there), or even a documentation issue (they aren't documented anymore).

Understood. Thanks for the explanation and sorry I haven't asked on the postgis-devel list first.

This was one of the discussions we had at the code sprint.
Unfortunately we can't do this yet. Even though the old functions have been deprecated since the 1.2 series (over 2 years ago), projects which use PostGIS still haven't updated their code to make use of them.
I think we need to make it more prominent that the non-ST functions will disappear with the next PostGIS release, and I believe Paul was going to look at kicking various other projects to make sure they update code in the meantime.
ATB,
Mark.
