An "A" record has been added for 2003.foss4g.org pointing to the .219 telescience blade.

I have not made any other arrangements on the .219 blade myself.

Can you point me to the discussion about "FOSS4G 2003"? I seem to have missed this, and I notice this SAC ticket with this odd name of "FOSS4G 2003".

We have to be very careful with the use of the "FOSS4G" brand. The first event using the FOSS4G name was actually the FOSS4G Grass Event in 2004 in Thailand. There was also a GRASS meeting in Italy in 2003 - and you can see my point here I hope. In 2004 was the OSGIS event also. A lot of these events could try to claim the FOSS4G name, and then also a domain like 200x.foss4g.org We can't go there.

I am requesting that we not use the FOSS4G domain except for OSGeo FOSS4G events.

2002.foss4g.org to  http://www.ing.unitn.it/~grass/conferences/GRASS2002/

2004.foss4g.org to  http://gisws.media.osaka-cu.ac.jp/grass04/

(or remove the 2003 assignment).

yup agreed - but there are a lot of other previous events that could try to claim the FOSS4G name.

Sure, remove it. The content is on upload.osgeo.org, it'll just have to be invisible.

I have created a new mum03.mapserver.org dns entry and pointed that at upload.osgeo.org and updated the apache config to point this at /osgeo/foss4g/mum2003-web.

I'll leave this ticket open for a few more hours till I can confirm this is working smoothly.

2003.foss4g.org removed. Also updated the mapserver conferences links on trac.osgeo.org/mapserver to reference the new mum03 site.

It's mum03.mapserver.org now, not mum03.foss4g.org.

Right, I'm hesitant to make new entries in the foss4g domain for non-foss4g conferences for fear of blow-back. That's why I put mum03 in the mapserver domain.

great thanks Frank. I confirm mum03.mapserver.org is working. (I think this is great, a place to host the past MUM archives...thanks for doing this) Also, thanks for updating the MapServer Conference page ( http://trac.osgeo.org/mapserver/wiki/Conferences).

Not part of this ticket, but, I will contact danmo to see if we should also move MUM04/OSGIS to this host, and if so I will file a new ticket.
