Create Mapbender Trac Instance

Description

Hi Frank,

thanks for setting up trac; I would like to volunteer for the job you described.

o Picking a set of categories (ie. core, wfssupport, etc) o Picking default "assignee's" for the categories. o Populating the versions and milestones list. o Possibly altering the default severity and priority type fields. o providing an icon o Setting up a bit of initial wiki front end options. o adminning Trac (setting up those with special priveledges)

Do you need this up front? I may not be able to deliver complete data now, but I guess we will be able to add anything we need as trac grows on us.

For a start, trac's purpose might be to replace the bug tracker at sourceforge. So here's what I can give you now

o Picking a set of categories (ie. core, wfssupport, etc)

administration core database digitizing installation print user interface

o Picking default "assignee's" for the categories.

I guess the SVN account names of all committers should suffice. Do you have access to a list of these names?

I guess we will add more data as soon as trac is set up. Is that possible?

I would *suggest* that this person become the Mapbender Trac Master or something similar, and have future responsibility for monitoring that bugs are being assigned properly, getting dealt with on a reasonably timely fashion and so forth.

Thanks again, please let us know,

Christoph

Basic trac instance created at:

http://trac.osgeo.org/mapbender

with ldap authorization setup, and Christoph and Warmerdam set with TRAC_ADMIN priveledges.

# We need a logo. # components not applied. # the web trac admin plugin does not seem to be working properly.

Hmm, the web admin stuff seems to be working now. I'm a bit weirded out.

Christoph, could you remove the existing categories, and new ones as you wish from here:

http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/admin/ticket/components

You will need to login to do this. Please let me know if you have any questions about this or the other administrative options.

You will also want to replace the default wiki content. You might want to use the content from one of the other tracs as an example. Assuming you want to avoid much use of the wiki you might want to model on the osgeo trac at http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo

I have confirmed that /var/www/trac/mapbender is being backed up with the other trac instances.

thank you Frank. Trac works well; I'm glad the bug tracker now has a real home.

I inserted components and versions without a problem. However I'm having difficulties with setting up a list of assignees. Is this done by granting permissions? If so, which?

In the "new ticket" field I only see a text box, but was expecting a select box.

Maybe you can help, thanks so far!

Christoph,

Trac does not have a mechanism to limit the assignees. In fact, anything can be put in the assignee or cc: boxes, regardless of whether it is valid.

If it contains an '@' it will be assumed to be an email address used for notifications. If not, it will be looked up in ldap for an email address. If not found then no email notifications are done.

So, you can't limit who things get assigned to. (not my design!)

Christoph,

If you can provide a Mapbender logo to use for the trac instance (for the top banner), I think I could close off this ticket.

I'm closing this as things seem to be working ok. If you would like the icon updated please reopen this ticket or email me directly and I'll update it.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
