Dan,
Everyone sees the vestigal search, toolbox and languages thingies in the
wiki.   I don't know why they are there - they are fairly recent, after
a mediawiki upgrade.  If you are concerned about this, I would suggest you
file a ticket with component SAC (system administration committee) and
we can hope that Martin (the wiki admin) will respond.

Likewise for the capcha problem.  Possibly in the same ticket...
