Description ¶
To easier manage the GSOC students, I would like to request to grant write access to Wolf Bergenheim for the GRASS-Addons user management:
.../ldap_group.py?group=grass_addons
Then he could directly enable the accepted students to manage their code in our Addons-SVN.
Thanks,
Markus

Frank,
IMHO this is slightly controversial our concept:
- GRASS-SVN users (granted via PSC) are managed here: https://www.osgeo.org/cgi-bin/auth/ldap_group.py?group=grass
- GRASS-Addons-SVN users are all users of above group + those being added in https://www.osgeo.org/cgi-bin/auth/ldap_group.py?group=grass_addons
I consider it as unfortunate that apparently GRASS-Addons-SVN users can add new GRASS-Addons-SVN users bypassing the senior developers (indeed, I didn't know that). GRASS-Addons-SVN users should be added only by GRASS-SVN users.
Additionally, the idea was to not replicate names in the GRASS-Addons-SVN users list.
Best, Markus

Markus,
Well, unfortunately the LDAP group management setup is not organized to support the enforced administration of groups the way you would like.
All projects expect the PSC to approve committers before they are added, so it is generally up to the PSC, etc to monitor the committers list and take steps if someone is inappropriately added. I don't see that it is different in this case.
If you are asking SAC to a bunch of software development to enforce your policies ... well, I doubt it will be me to do it, and it has been my experience that no one else is stepping forward into this particular role (ldap management web services).
Best regards,

Frank,
for obvious reasons I won't ask a bunch of software development. While I am ready to monitor the committers list, I have some problems to do it actively (say, go to that page daily or so since I just don't have the time).
Would it be possible to generate a change email which goes to the PSC list? Then we are alerted and things get monitored and can be reverted if needed.
If not possible, I'll have to trust folks to not abuse their power.
Best regards, Markus
Markus,
Anyone already in the group, which includes you, can add Wolf to the list. Once he is in the list he can also add people. So please just visit:
And add his userid.
