Description
New bug to revisit #1719 and to propose a new possible solution to this problem. This issues has been posted to the mapserver list and to the OpenLayers list about 5-6 times in the past few years and I have two clients that just ran into it and it just came across the OpenLayers list again yesterday. It seems that this bug is more invasive given the fact that more people are using tiling strategies.
Seems to me that it could be fixable with a buffer around the image when rendering that is not saved when writing the image. Just a thought.

we haven't heard of this one in ages, seems like it was fixed in GD.
Ticket #1719 suggests that this may be fixed in the latest version of GD. Does someone know if that's really the case? If yes then I'd say upgrading GD is the solution and we should not implement a hack in MapServer for older GDs... if not then why not work with the GD team on a fix?
